Christmas Tree

When my parents and brother's family was here for Levi's blessing we decided it as also a great time to start preparing from Christmas.  Actually, we always put up the lights and our tree after thanksgiving but it was new having family here to help and to be part of the experience.

We decided to venture out and find and cut down our own tree instead of buying one from the store.  Sadly, the summer weather almost killed any Christmas trees that were growing in Missouri.  However, we did not realize this and found a location just west of us in the country.  The website said they still had several good trees in the field to cut down and from the pictures which were suppose to be this year, looked awesome.  So we packed up everyone and headed west.  When we arrived we were shocked to see that the trees in teh field were short and often disfigured.  The farm though had trucked in a lot of nice looking trees that were obviously over priced.  It was all a trick.  Oh well.  The place did have a living farm which all the goats and sheep were available for the kids to see and pet.  They also had a camel from everyone to see.  The girls loved it.

The place also had a Santa to visit with which was nice.  We all had a chance to sit on his lap and get family pictures with the man in the red suit.

After giving up on the idea of cutting out own tree we decided we better just buy one of the trucked in trees. We found a beauty with in the stack of good trees and honestly I think it is the best tree we have had since our marriage.

When we arrived back home, my mother and Brindi went to work to make me come candy toffee.  This is my favorite holiday candy and since we were not planning on going out to Utah this year she was going to make it this weekend so she wouldn't have to send it.  I love my mom's toffee.

We grabbed all of our decorations later that evening and the girls and Daxton went to work decorating the family room and tree.  It was great having an extra pair of hands to help!

Brindi was very insistent that she was going to put the star on the tree and was very successful.
